Low Head Pilot Station is the longest active Pilot Station in Australia and is still active today. Most of these heritage self-contained cottages were built in 1825 to accommodate the Pilot's, Coxswain and their families; people enjoy staying in a part of Australian maritime history. Each cottage is unique in location and layout. Low Head Pilot Station is a tourist destination in itself, within the Low Head Historic Precinct is a Tasmania National Park (where seven out of nine Cottages are located) there is a Maritime Museum and waterfront kiosk.
